Giant Robot 66 is finally here, and I have a few worthy reasons you should pick it up:
- Scott Pilgrim Cover/Bryan Lee O'Malley Interview!
- I did an interview with Edmund McMillen (that's what you are looking at above) about Super Meat Boy and other incredibly interesting topics.
- Gaijan Games Interview!
- Indie love in the Players Club section, including Bit Pilot, Desktop Dungeons, Hydorah and Rainblood: Town of Death
Check the gallery for more photos and words. If you don't know any local stores that carry it, you can always buy the mag from the Giant Robot online shop.

In conjunction with the Attract Mode videogame culture shop, Giant Robot is proud to host Game Night, a new event that takes place at GR2 every two months. Each evening will feature a different developer and its games in a relaxed, community-building setting.
For Game Night 2, Giant Robot is pleased to present artist Bryan Lee O'Malley, who will be celebrating the sixth and final installment of his Scott Pilgrim comic-book saga (adapted into a movie directed by Edgar Wright for Universal) and playing the brand new Scott Pilgrim video game (published by Ubisoft with art direction by Paul Robertson and music by Anamanaguchi).
O'Malley will sign volumes of Scott Pilgrim from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Games will be played from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m.
Bryan Lee O'Malley is also featured as the cover artist of the July-August issue of Giant Robot magazine. Giant Robot was born as a Los Angeles-based publication about Asian, Asian-American, and new hybrid culture in 1994, but has evolved into a full-service pop culture provider with shops and galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York City, as well as an online equivalent.
Game Night 2 will take place on August 21 from 5:00 - 10:00 p.m.

I've made it obvious that I love the Scott Pilgrim comics and I can't wait to watch the movie. When I heard about the videogame, though, my gut told me that it was going to be disappointing. I mean, it's a movie tie-in from a big name publisher, and they're pretty much always terrible.
Well, there was no need to worry. Apparently Bryan Lee O'Malley made sure that Ubisoft treated his baby with respect. Today at PAX East, I found out that Anamanaguchi is writing the soundtrack. During their concert tonight, they played one of the tracks they wrote for the game, and the on-stage visuals included animation and artwork from pixel master Paul Robertson, creator of the Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight 2006 animation and proud Mecha Fetus member.
Wow. Could the combination be any better? Four years: that's how long it took from the release of Pirate Baby's for a videogame company to be smart enough to hire Paul Robertson to animate a beat'em up adventure with his trademark bouncy pixels. Everyone that watched Pirate Baby's wished that it was made into a real game. Combine it with incredible chip music and the Scott Pilgrim storyline, and you already have one of the most exciting videogame releases for 2010.
Touché, Ubisoft.
The images included are screengrabs from the visuals used in the Anamanaguchi performance tonight, from a song that they wrote for Scott Pilgrim the Video Game!

Did I tell you how excited I am for Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World? Knowing that it will be amazing helps dull the pain caused by the recent Shadow of the Collossus movie announcement. Seriously, the Scott Pilgrim movie just keeps looking better.
I was already impressed with the casting, and then I learned (from the video above) that it's being directed and co-written by the amazing Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz).
The only thing that's disappointing: I move to Los Angeles, movie capital of the world, and when there is actually a movie that I'd want to be an extra in, they film it in Toronto. Oh well, I'll just keep watching these weekly video blogs and be grateful that at least one of my favorite franchises is getting the love and respect it deserves.
Update: Edgar Wright is updating his blog with daily photos from the set. Awesome!

That's right. Scott Pilgrim Vs. The Universe, volume 5 of my all-time favorite comic series will finally be here on February 4th! Be sure to pick up the first printing for the super deluxe foil cover.
In case you haven't heard, Bryan Lee O'Malley's Scott Pilgrim is required reading for anyone that enjoys videogames, comics, Canadians or any combination thereof. Scott is a loveable slacker who spends his days mooching off his roommate and playing bass for a crappy local band, Sex Bob-omb. Things start getting awesome when Scott falls for Ramona Flowers, only to find out that he has to defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends if he wants to date her! Rad!
If you've never read Scott Pilgrim, I highly encourage you to check it out. It's all that.
