“I want to hint to my Dad to stop dressing like a clown without hurting his feelings. Can you help?”
The game I’ve been waiting ALL summer for finally arrived. No, not Grand Theft Auto 5… I’m talking about VideoHeroeS!
Earlier this weekend, emails began going out to supporters of the LA Game Space Kickstarter, containing everyone’s golden ticket to the Experimental Game Pack 01. Received mine last night, and I seriously have not been able to do anything ever since.
I’m guessing the one game that will get the most attention will be ALPHABET by Keita Takahashi and Adam Saltsman, and for obvious reasons (can’t get enough of the soundtrack, guest starring both Adam and his son Dante, btw).
Though my personal favorite is the aforementioned latest from Santa Ragione. Due to the fact that my youth was wasted in front of a TV set, and not just cuz of my NES, SNES, or Genesis, but also Freddy, Jason, or Leatherface. And VideoHeroeS brilliantly encapsulates those bygone days of digging deep for buried treasure at local movie rental shops.
BTW, for those of you who were not able to donate to LA/GS this past winter and have been kicking yourself ever since, you have one last chance to nab the Game Pack! But it’s only for a limited time, so click this link ASAP.
First thing’s first, and in case you haven’t heard: the LA Game Space Kickstarter has reached it’s goal! A hearty thank you to everyone who chipped in and helped to make it happen, as well spreading the word!
And congratulations to both Adam and Daniel, for such a tremendous job of exciting everyone’s imagination in the first place. The world of video games has long needed a place like LA/GS and thank goodness it’s finally happening.
Yes it’s in Los Angeles, which is not close by for most people reading this (myself included). But rest assured, the place that Mr. Robezzoli and Mr. Rehn are hoping to build will forge new territory the medium, and the end result will be felt in every corner of this earth, without question.
Once again, it’s all thanks to you, for believing in the dream. But we’re only getting started! And, there’s literally a new reason to contribute, with every passing day practically…
Pen Ward, Keita Takahashi, and Tons of Other Awesome People Making Games for LA Game Space Kickstarter
Pen Ward (the creator of Adventure Time) has been working late into the night for the past week creating this adorable animation about LA Game Space, his love of video games, and how awesome QWOP is. Pen and Bennett Foddy (creator of QWOP) are teaming up to make a game for the LA Game Space Kickstarter!
And—just announced today—Keita Takahashi (creator of Katamari Damacy) is making a new game for the Kickstarter as well! Keita is one of my absolute favorite game makers of all time, and I am kind of freaking out that he has joined us to help raise the funds to make LA Game Space a reality.
Daniel and I have been working on this for three years now, and it is humbling to see how many generous, talented people have thrown their support behind the Space. From our advisors, to the game developer community, to everyone spreading the word and donating, it is obvious that this is not a personal project, but something that we are all doing together. So, thank you!
Also, while the rewards that we are offering on the Kickstarter are pretty mind-blowing, this movement is about something more central to video games and their growth as a medium. David Surman and Ian Gouldstone of Pachinko Pictures created this short video to explain the real reason LA Game Space is so important. They’ve explained it in a way that I think will resonate expecially well with Attract Mode readers.
