Assassin’s Creed is a popular AAA title in the gaming industry. The game is famous for its high-level assassins who span different cultures throughout history. As more titles came into play, the issue of a female assassin surfaced. Therefore, one of the critical questions regarding the game is, can you play as a girl in Assassin’s Creed?
The developer is set to launch its 13th major title in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Mirage. Fans are keen to find out everything about the game. However, whether Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have a female assassin remains of interest. Discover everything about Assassin’s Creed female assassins and more on Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is an action-adventure, open-world video game played from the third perspective. The game is developed by Ubisoft, the developer of the Assassin’s Creed sequel. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set in Baghdad, a 9th-century city famous during the Islamic Golden Age.
The developer describes Assassin’s Creed Mirage as returning to the Assassin’s Creed original roots. Unlike previous titles, which are RPGs, this new title is an action-adventure like the first Assassin’s Creed titles. The game will also focus on close-range assassination, parkour, and stealth. This means that the abilities are greatly enhanced, aiding you to climb walls, jump on rooftops and kill the enemy before you’re noticed. However, the developer notes that you should avoid direct combat as it will significantly damage you.
Apart from Baghdad, you can tour Alamut, the fortress which housed the Hidden Ones. Baghdad has four districts, each built differently with numerous assassination missions. Another notable feature is that Assassin’s Creed Mirage is shorter and feels more like the first of Assassin’s Creed titles.
A few features from the older titles are returning to Assassin’s Creed Mirage and new additions. Therefore, Assassin’s Creed Mirage lets you experience a blend of old and new depicted through a fantastic storyline and high-level graphics.
Assassin’s Creed has featured female assassins in previous major and contributing titles. However, there will be no female assassin in Assassin’s Creed Mirage. This may disappoint the fans fond of the female characters in previous titles.
The protagonist in Assassin’s Creed Mirage is Basim, with no playable female character. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is set decades before the events in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. It follows the life of Basim as a thief in the streets of Baghdad to a dangerous master assassin of the Hidden Ones. The game describes Basim as an orphan living in Baghdad after his mother’s death. He always admired the Hidden Ones and admired becoming one of them.
Basim isn’t a new character; many will identify him from Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. He arrives as a Hidden One’s messenger from the Holy Land and becomes friends with the Eivor. However, it doesn’t end well for him after he discovers that Eivor is Odin’s reincarnated form. Basim is the reincarnation of Loki. Odin and Loki had bad blood after a betrayal that happened in the past.
In addition to Basim, Assassin’s Creed Mirage introduces a new character, Roshan, who becomes Basim’s mentor. She trains and guides Basim in his journey as one of the Hidden Ones.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is the title preceding Assassin’s Creed Mirage. It’s also disclosed Assassin’s Creed Mirage was a contributing title to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla before the developer turned it into a major title. Unlike Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you can play as a female assassin in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
There are three gender options to choose from in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla Before beginning the game. These are male, female, or Animus. The differences between the male and female Eivor are negligible apart from appearance. Therefore, regardless of the character you play, the effect on the storyline will be minimal.
The third option, Animus Eivor, allows the game to decide which parts to play as male or female Eivor. You shouldn’t be worried about the Animus option, as the character switching happens at specific locations and with an explanation. You’ll experience better gameplay by letting the game dictate which parts to play, male or female. However, any of the three options works fantastically.
You can switch between the three Eivor options. To do this, access the menu option and select Animus. The next step is to choose between the gender options available, female, male, or Animus.
The good news is, if you have time, you can play both characters to find out which offers a good storyline from your perspective.
Assassin’s Creed mainly features male protagonists, raising numerous concerns from the gaming community. Assassin’s Creed introduced female assassins in its new titles to cater to this. Most of the female antagonists are found in contributing titles. However, there are a couple of major titles featuring female protagonists.
As noted, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is one such title. Other major titles like Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, Liberation, Origins, and Odyssey feature female assassins.
In Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, the two main assassins are Evie and Jacob, the Frye twins. You can only play the female character in certain parts of the game. This is like Assassin’s Creed Origins, where Aya is only playable for specific missions. However, in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you choose between Kassandra and Alexios, and you must stick with the character throughout the game. Kasandra is the first female protagonist in a major Assassin’s Creed title.
Another playable female assassin is Aveline in Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation. However, the game was initially PlayStation Vita exclusive. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China also featured Shao Jun. However, the title isn’t an Assassin’s Creed major title.
There’s no female playable character in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which features Basim as the only protagonist. However, there are a couple of female characters in the previous Assassin’s Creed titles. Despite Assassin’s Creed Mirage lacking a playable female assassin, its gameplay and action-adventure focus make it worth playing.
