Marpio Rides Yorshi

Yes, there’s someone inside that thing (it’s Bladewolf, from Metal Gear Rising, for those not familiar). And it’s also time for part two our latest game focus survey of Instagram.

As with part one, kicking things off with some cosplay, this time from New York Comic Con 2013. Given the focus, most were donning comic book, movie, and anime attire, but you still have this Ni no Kuni fan…

Hey, it’s Crash Girl!

Given the popularity of Pokemon and Attack On Titans, the following mash-up was perhaps inevitable, yet highly original nonetheless…

The best part of Mario with FLUDD and Luigi with Poltergust 3000 are their GameCube traps…

ROB here is an excellent use of discarded styrofoam, imho. And is it just me, or the does the size of Sailor Moon’s phone in the back seem gigantic? Guess it’s one of those phablets…

Also at NYCC, Zack Soto got the chance to meet José Luis García-López, who illustrated the little known Atari Force comic from the 80s (here we see José being presented with Zack’s own homage)…

While NYCC was happening, Square Sounds took place (which is essentially Blip Tokyo’s spiritual successor). Bit Shifter did an amazing job of capturing the entire thing, but for whatever reason, I enjoy this a picture he came across at a hostel that apparently hosts chiptune parties the most. Mostly cuz I love Hally to death…

As miki800 shows us, Japanese chiptunes is the best!

Elsewhere across the globe, around that same time as well, was Game City: here’s Paul Veer making pixels in the middle of the street, as witnessed by Kimika…

As Steve Flack points out: ”I guess you can’t play Mattel electronic football on this flight.”

John once again reminds me that I need to get on that damn Monster Party party train, asap…

I also need to ask Matt Timms what the hell game this is…

The Mega CD version of Shadownrun looks pretty hawt, and not just cuz I have a soft sport for Sega’s 16-bit visuals. Need to give it a spin; thanks for the head’s up Kimimi…

Also interested in Stu Brett’s latest addition to his collection, Kidou Soukou Dion

I don’t know about you, but I really dig the idea of a system’s controller looking like the system itself…

Gunhead was originally a movie?!?!

The Arcade Hunter explains: “Yes, we called them ‘tapes’ back in the day.”

Lamar’s just thinking about Game Gear, that’s all. Perhaps how awesome it was and still is?

Chris Person ran into Mario not too long ago, whose paychecks from Nintendo are apparently on the slim side, hence the part time job…

Speaking of Halloween, Chris’s costume was pretty much the best thing ever. Provided if you’re a diehard Battletoads fan, but who isn’t?

25 years later, and Daniel still refuses to have any help in Myst

John Pham was in town not long, for Comic Arts Brooklyn, where he debuted yet another book done entirely in risograph. The results are simply beautiful, but it’s an expensive print method, hence the need to sell ad space…

David recently got a new game. It’s all about dolphins…

Via Mike; guess who also likes dolphins? Yup, you guessed it; Activision…

Looks like Alina is getting ready to do some Sword & Sworcery cosplay…

Speaking of CAPY, Kris and the rest the gang are all hard at work on Below, which continues to look as hella pretty…

Here’s what he looks like playing video games, btw, according to his nephew. The resemblance in uncanny…

Behold a typical scene in the day in the life of Nullsleep..

And this is how Bit Shifter gets his Game Boys ready before hitting the stage…

Remember the pinball laundromat I mentioned a little while ago? Well, I finally checked it out, and it basically lives up to the hype…

… It’s actually just around the corner from where Noah Sasso lives; after a few rounds, he took myself and Kyle Fewell to an excellent joint in Queens Chinatown. Here we see the traditional post dinner Street Pass check…

Back in Japan, here’s a bunch of dudes in Jovo Ve’s kitchen, all playing… you guessed it… Monster Hunter

Jovan also apparently got himself one of those Majora’s Mask inspired Oni Masks (the site has a number of others from various pals, like Hilary Florido and Jacob Smiley)…

ketta_gg’s figure galleries are always the best, especially when anything Armored Core make an appearance…

As well as anything Shin Megami Tensei related…

Totally need a Nekketsu Kōha Kunio-kun keychain; hope Chris Butcher got an extra…

I wonder how Olly Moss feels about the faked Shenmue 3 trademark…

Though it’s a safe bet that he’s currently enjoying Super Mario 3D World

Same goes with Toby, I guess?

Hey, who remembers kony2012? Zack sure does…

I’m assuming the little animu butt is Toriena’s good luck charm or something…

Destructiod’s Niero thinks that Luigi and Buzz Lightyear are getting in on, whereas I think they’re fighting (with Mickey and Mario cheering them on)…

Chris Dugan is now the proud owner of the new trifecta: the Xbox One, Wii U, and PS4. Now he just needs a table…

Remember my mention of Suzuki Bakuhatsu, and the gathering from which it sprung from? Here’s what wacky import PSone/PS2/Dreamcast night basically looks like (note the whiskey in the upper right hand corner)…

Oh and I also finally got the chance to check out the Full Circle, aka the skee ball bar in Williamsburg. And as expected, it’s considerably superior to Barcade…

Megan, who first alerted me to Full Circle, recently spotted a piece by Invader (whose recent visit is literally a billion times more interesting than Banksy’s, that’s for damn sure)…

And on that note, I should maybe mention that I’m writing this from Toronto, Canada! Am here for Bit Bazaar round two, which I’ll talk about next time. But yeah, it’s awesome up here, though a bit on the chilly side. Which is to be expected, though I still wish I had Heather’s Mario clouds sweater…
