What Platforms Will Starfield Be On?

Starfield is among the most anticipated games set to launch in 2023. The game is a sci-fi idea that takes the gamers into the future, based on a NASA punk theme, and lets them explore life in the cosmos. There have been many speculations about the game, and the fans expect mind-blowing features, excellent graphics, and unique gameplay. All the anticipation and released trailers have led to fans interested and asking questions, such as what platforms the game will be on.

What Platforms Will Starfield Be On?

According to Bethesda Game Studios, the game developer, the game will be on the latest Xbox Series X|S and PC. It is the first Xbox exclusive game after Microsoft acquired Bethesda in 2021. However, the last generation Xbox console gamers will not get into space unless they upgrade their systems. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect it to be a Starfield Xbox One game in 2023.

Will Starfield Be On PC?

Yes, Starfield is launching exclusively on Xbox and PC. However, unlike the previous Bethesda titles, this game isn’t released on PlayStation consoles. One of the reasons is Microsoft’s acquisition of Zenimax, Bethesda’s parent company.

Before the acquisition, Bethesda launched the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Fallout 3, Fallout 4, etc., which are available for all platforms. This gave gamers the freedom to choose their preferred platform; however, that is not the case anymore.

This also means that we expect the upcoming Bethesda titles to only be exclusive to Xbox and PC. In addition, we don’t expect the games to be available for the older generation Xbox one consoles.

So, what are the game system requirements?

Starfield features a 2nd Creation Engine to ensure quality graphics throughout the game. This means that you will probably have to upgrade your PC to meet the following minimum system requirements:

  • CPU: AMD FX-8350 / Core i5 6600K
  • Operating System: Windows 10 & Windows 11 (64-bit or larger)
  • Video card (GPU): AMD Radeon RX 570 / Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti
  • RAM: 8GB TO 12GB RAM.
  •  Video Memory: DirectX Version 12

However, if you want to get a seamless gaming experience, here are the recommended system requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 10 & Windows 11 (64-bit or larger)
  • CPU:  AMD Ryzen 5 2600 / Core i7 5820K
  • RAM: 16GB
  • Video card (GPU): Nvidia RTX 3070 / AMD Radeon RX 6800
  • Video Memory: DirectX Version 12

The move by Xbox seeks to increase its player base after successfully testing the idea on previous games such as Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite, released in 2021. These games recorded a considerable player count, and Microsoft is seeking to do the same to Starfield. To date, Forza and Halo are the most played games in the Xbox series franchise, as they recorded over 20 million gamers. Since Starfield is expected to be way better than the previous games, it would likely surpass this count.

Is Starfield Going to Be On Steam?

Yes. Starfield is available on three platforms; the Microsoft Store, Steam, and the Bethesda.net launcher. This is excellent news for gamers who wish to modify and customize the game. The mod properties mean you can enjoy the game longer since it is possible to improve the game graphics, add new features, and acquire new in-game cosmetics in the future.

Microsoft has a trend where it releases its first-party games on Steam to maximize sales, and it is confirmed it would be the same for Starfield. In addition, Starfield will be supported on the Steam Deck, meaning it will be possible to download the game to the mobile console.

Conclusion

Starfield is an action-adventure game set in space that Bethesda Game Studios develop. The game will be a cross-platform release, and it will be on the Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam. However, the game is not confirmed to be released on the PlayStation consoles. Starfield is also guaranteed to have mod support, which is excellent news for gamers.
