Elden Ring Cathedral of Manus Celes

Elden Ring is full of vast locations that are key to the gameplay. There are essential locations to the storyline that you don’t have an option to visit, while other locations are not vital to the gameplay and can be skipped. The Cathedral of Manus Celes is one of the key Elden Ring’s locations due to its ties with the Ranni’s questline.

However, access to the Cathedral is not granted as soon as you begin the game. Instead, you must take quests and traverse the Lands to unlock the Cathedral of Manus Celes. Below, learn about the Cathedral of Manus Celes, including the Elden Ring Cathedral of Manus Celes how to get it, and everything in between.

What is the Elden Ring Cathedral of Manus Celes

The Elden Ring Cathedral of Manus Celes is a large church south of the Liurnia Plateau. The Cathedral remains in ruins, but it’s scattered with numerous Starlight Shards. Inside there’s an opening leading to a basement below the Cathedral. Inside the basement, you’ll find the corpse of Two Fingers, killed by Lunar Princess Ranni using Fingerslayer Blade. You’ll find Ranni lying motionless in the basement, and you must place the DarkMoon Ring on her finger to restore her power. She will then depart hence opening the Age of the Stars game ending.

The Moonlight Altar, where the Cathedral is found, is inaccessible until you defeat Astel, Naturalborn of the Void, at Grand Cloister during Ranni’s quest. After eliminating this boss, you ride a lift to the plateau from Deep Ainsel Well. The Cathedral is the last location in Ranni’s questline.

However, possession of the Fingerslayer Blade will teleport you to Nokkron, Eternal City, then back to meet Ranni. Progressing north of Three Sisters, you’ll find Renna’s Rise, and you can follow the Waygate at the tower to access the Ainsel River. You will find Ranni’s doll at this place, and it will direct you to look for the Baleful Shadow. Baleful Shadow is found at Noksetall in the Eternal City a few moments before reaching the Lake of Rot.

The Baleful Shadow has the Discarded Place Key needed to retrieve the DarkMoon Ring. You must defeat the boss and head back to the Cathedral of Manus Celes in search of Rinna.

How to Unlock the Cathedral

The Cathedral can be unlocked after you reach the third level of the game, which is known as the Lands. Then, after completing various tasks and taking quests from NPCs, the path to enter Manus Celes will become available.

Once you make it through the Land’s challenge and gain access to Manus Celes, a new quest called “A Meeting with Shearl” will appear in your log. This quest takes you to another location outside Elden Ring proper, where you can learn more about Shearl’s secrets and what she offers. Completing this quest unlocks additional paths that grant access to the Cathedral itself.

What Can You Find Inside?

Inside the Cathedral of Manus Celes, players can find various artifacts and rewards. These items are essential for powering up your character, unlocking new abilities, and progressing the game’s story. You can also find rare items, such as the Ring of Sacrifice, that increase the power of certain spells.
