Killing Morgott in Elden Ring is not such a simple task. You may be stuck on the next step if you have just killed this great Omen King. Apart from providing you with occasional hints and tricks from the NPCs, Elden Ring doesn’t fully tell you where to proceed after completing a specific quest. Therefore, the solution is here if you are stranded on where to proceed next. Don’t stumble aimlessly in the Lands Between. Read on to learn more about Elden Ring where to go after killing Morgott, and everything regarding the topic.

Elden Ring: Where to Go After Beating Morgott

Morgott, known as the Omen King, is one of the Elden Ring bosses you’ll have to fight in your quest in the Lands Between. Morgott is similar to Margit, the Fell Omen boss you will encounter in the game’s beginning. However, Morgott is more challenging than his predecessor and must be more equipped to take him out. Morgott’s location is in Leyndell, the Royal Capital, and you’ll have to fight him to access the entrance to the Erdtree, which is the home of the royal throne.

The first thing to do after killing Morgott is to head up the stairs to the Erdtree entrance. You cannot get through the door due to the thorns blocking the access. However, you can touch it, which will cause the Elden Throne Site of Grace to appear. Head down from the entrance and enter the Site of Grace to rest.

So what’s next?

Melina will immediately appear as you are resting and tell you that your next destination is the Mountaintops of the Giants. Melina will then grant you the Rold Medallion, and then you can proceed with the journey to the Mountaintops of the Giants. The Rold Medallion will be very useful in opening a massive door to gain access to the Grand Lift leading to the Rold Area.

The Mountaintops of the Giants is the main path of the storyline. However, you can do some optional side routes exploration of the Subterranean Shunning Grounds. You can also pay a visit to the Divine Tower to unlock Morgott’s Great Rune on the East Altus. The Morgott’s Great Rune will help to upgrade your max HP.

Destination 1: The Rold Route

To reach your destination, return to the Avenue Balcony Site of Grace and head onto the main avenue. Travel North-East until you come across the large double doors that were previously inaccessible. You can now open these doors, revealing a new ash-covered area of the city. Proceed straight ahead up the path and stairs, while defeating or avoiding the Misbegotten and Perfumers on the way, until you reach a large arched doorway with a lift beyond.

Activate the lift, and it will take you to a new area in the City Outskirts. Move forward, and you will encounter Leyndell soldiers and two Knights, one on horseback, along the way. Defeat or evade them and continue straight until you reach another lift. In this room, there is an exit that leads to the Divine Tower of East Altus, but you can come back to it later. Activate the lift, and you will descend into a new zone.

Destination 2: The Forbidden Lands

You have now ventured into the Forbidden Lands, a narrow and oppressive area with limited visibility and plenty of perilous drops that can instantly end your life. The region is infested with dangerous Vulgar Militia foes, but there is a way to make your way through it unscathed – by riding on Torrent. The path through the zone is straightforward, and as long as you avoid or defeat the enemies along the way, you should have no trouble following Melina’s red mark on your map to your destination.

At the end of the Forbidden Lands, a massive staircase leads to the base of the Lift of Rold, and a statue of Marika is erected there for a reason – as soon as you ascend the stairs, a Black Blade Kindred, a formidable gargoyle, will attack you. It’s not necessary to defeat this boss; you can simply run or ride past it and head to the lift. However, be warned that the Black Blade Kindred is swift, has an extended reach, and can deal heavy damage. Once you’ve dispatched or avoided the boss, you’ll arrive at the Grand Lift of Rold Site of Grace. From there, you can activate the lift by selecting the “Hoist the Medallion” option.

Do I Need to Eliminate the Black Blade Kindred?

Located outside the Bestial Sanctum in Caelid, Black Blade Kindred is an optional boss that can be skipped without hindering your progress in the story. However, defeating the boss will yield a valuable reward. The Gargoyle boss appears twice, once in Caelid and once in the Forbidden Lands. Here is everything you need to know about Black Blade Kindred in Elden Ring.

There are three main strategies for this boss fight. One is melee combat, where you utilize strike attacks to deal significant damage to the boss. Another strategy is to fight the boss while mounted, although this approach can be risky since it makes it difficult to dodge attacks. However, it allows you to maintain distance from the boss when needed. The third approach is to use magic, specifically Sorceries such as Comet Azur, to deal massive amounts of damage to the boss.

Finally, it’s also possible to cheese the boss by using your horse to make the boss jump off the cliff. However, this strategy is difficult to execute successfully.

An important note is that when you are at the Forbidden Lands Site of Grace, you can take the path leading to the Divine Tower of East Altus. Also, you can proceed to other optional quests like the Subterranean Shunning Grounds, Deeproot Depths, Naturalborn of the Void, or Lake of Astel & Rot.

Destination 3: Mountaintops of the Giants

The Mountaintops of the Giants is a vital location in the Lands Between because you’ll find the flame capable of setting the Erdtree on fire. Here’s how to reach the Mountaintops of the Giants.

Once you take the Rold Lift, you will arrive at the Mountaintops Of The Giants, which is your next destination. Near the bottom of the slope where the lift drops you off, you will find a map fragment for part of the zone and the Zamor Ruins Site Of Grace. From this point on, you’ll be exploring the zone on your own, but you may want to refer to our guide for help in defeating the boss.
