Is Fishing Going To Be Included in Diablo 4?

Hey gamers! Get ready to cast your lines elsewhere because unfortunately, fishing won’t be making an appearance in Diablo 4. But wait, there’s more! In this article, we’ll be taking a look at some other features that won’t be included in the game and the reasons behind their exclusion. So, grab your potions and sharpen your weapons because we’re about to dive into the world of Diablo 4. Keep reading to find out more!

Curse Items

Diablo 4 will not have Curse items, according to Blizzard. The developers stated that these items are hard to balance and understand their effects. Instead, they want to focus on creating items that complement the character’s skills. Legendary items in Diablo 4 will modify existing skills, allowing players to combine them and change how they work. For example, a legendary item can remove the cooldown on Teleport or make it do area-of-effect damage when used. While Curse items may have been interesting, the developers feel that they can create a more enjoyable and balanced gameplay experience by focusing on enhancing existing skills.

Charm Items

Diablo 4 won’t feature Charm items, unlike its predecessor Diablo 2, which had charms that offered players small bonuses when kept in their inventory. This design choice was made to avoid players having to frequently reorganize their inventory and visit town. According to David Kim, the former Diablo 4 Principal Game Designer, while it was cool to collect these bonuses and have them interact with the item tetris, the downside was that it made the system inconvenient and gave players with more time an advantage in terms of power. Thus, Diablo 4 won’t have charms, and players won’t have to sacrifice convenience for power.

Jousting

While mounts will be available in Diablo 4, jousting won’t be a part of the game. According to Joe Piepiola, the Associate Game Director of Diablo 4, the team wanted to avoid the idea of fighting from horseback as it’s not the Diablo experience. This means that players won’t be able to engage in jousting against other players in PvP or fight monsters while mounted. Despite this, mounts will still add a new level of mobility to the game, allowing players to travel across Sanctuary quickly and efficiently.

Player Housing

Are you one of the players who love to have a home in-game to store items and show off your creativity with decoration? Unfortunately, player housing is unlikely to be a feature in Diablo 4. Despite some MMO elements and a more open-world feel, the game won’t offer players the chance to purchase a house or plot on the map to call their own. Former Diablo 4 Principal Game Designer David Kim stated that they haven’t talked about it, and there’s no certainty if it will be added in the future.

Rifts

In Diablo 4, players won’t have Rifts like in Diablo 3, but they will have the new end-game feature called Nightmare Dungeons. These dungeons will be accessed using Nightmare Sigils, each with a difficulty tier and affixes that make every dungeon experience unique. It is important to note that Diablo 4’s dungeons are generated procedurally, providing players with a unique and unpredictable gameplay experience.

Unlike Rifts, Nightmare Dungeons will have specific locations in Sanctuary, giving players a sense of place and allowing them to ride on their horses and explore new areas. So, get ready to ride out and explore the dark depths of the nightmare dungeons in Diablo 4!

Other Game Features That Are Unlikely to Be Added

Here is a list of features that are not planned to be added to Diablo 4 at launch:

  • Auction house
  • Free-to-play model
  • Linux version
  • Mac version
  • Mobile version
  • NFT-based items
  • Offline mode
  • Solo Self-found mode
  • Switch version
  • Third party addons

While some of these features may be added in the future, they are not currently planned for launch. Blizzard has stated that they are focused on creating a quality experience for players on PC and current-gen consoles. The absence of an auction house, for example, is seen as a positive by many fans, as it encourages players to engage more with the game’s loot system. Similarly, the lack of a free-to-play model and NFT-based items indicate that Blizzard is not looking to monetize the game in potentially controversial ways. While some players may be disappointed by the absence of certain features, the focus on delivering a polished and engaging experience should ultimately benefit the game and its community.

Factors Behind Blizzard’s Decision to Limit New Features in Diablo 4

Blizzard’s decision to limit the addition of new features to Diablo 4 is driven by its desire to maintain the core Diablo experience while still providing fresh content for players. Introducing too many new features could risk losing the game’s identity and turning it into something that doesn’t feel like a Diablo game anymore. Therefore, Blizzard is being cautious about which features to add and which ones to leave out. They want to ensure that Diablo 4 stays true to its roots while also providing enough new content to keep players engaged.

Diablo 4 is a highly anticipated game that will bring new features and experiences to the series. However, Blizzard has made it clear that they are being careful not to overwhelm players with too many new features to maintain the familiar Diablo feel. As a result, some features, such as curse items, fishing, and player housing, won’t be present in the base game at launch. Overall, Diablo 4 promises to be an exciting game for fans of the series, with new and improved features that stay true to the Diablo gameplay style.
